The Voice of the Fan weights in on the Cleveland Browns selection of Jedrick Willas, as well as the team’s needs heading into the later part of the draft.

The Cleveland Browns got their tackle, we hope, in the first round, however, it must be noted he played mostly on the right side for Alabama!

Remember that Alabama’s quarterback Tua Tagovaoila is left handed, so actually Jedrick Wills was protecting his blind side.

The Browns will try him out at left tackle. Having Bill Callahan as the offensive line coach should go a long way in helping him adjust. Future Hall of Famer Joe Thomas can be used as a resource as well.

It shouldn’t be lost that his former head coach, Nick Sabin rarely turns out players that don’t flourish in the NFL. I doubt Wills be a Joe Thomas, but he won’t be a Gregg Robinson, either!

Heading into the second round,  Kevin Stefanski and Andrew Berry have holes in their lineup and some are glaring. For instance,  safety is the big hole that needs filled. Sure they brought in two capable veterans on one-year contracts, but if one goes down, where’s his replacement?

Next there’s a gaping hole at middle linebacker! Joe Schobert is gone and the need is critical especially stopping the run. I’m hoping they can retrieve Ohio State’s Malik Harrison from this draft.
He had a great year at stopping the run and was a very active linebacker on a really good defense.

Lastly,  Berry needs some run stoppers up front! Technically, they have a good front four, but the those guys  need rest, too. What happens when the ugly injury bug strikes, or God forbid, we have another Myles Garrett incident?

Hopefully, not with him, but a replacement will be needed.

But it’s not for me to figure out whom to take. I’m The Voice of the Fan. The management knows  the want and need, and a lot depends on who’s there, when it’s their turn to pick.

But let’s rejoice that at least we have one sporting event to watch that is HD and isn’t five to 12 years old!!
