NFC West

Seattle – LB Jordyn Brooks (Texas Tech)

Seattle is like Baltimore in the sense that if they take a defensive player anywhere in the draft, you just assume it’s going to be a hit. Jordyn Brooks wasn’t the talk of many people’s mocks, nor did he burn up the tapes but that’s exactly the type of guy who could really make an impact. Still, some mystery remains on him so not a perfect score.

Grade: A- (Let’s see what he can do)

San Francisco – DT Javon Kinlaw (South Carolina), WR Brandon Aiyuk (Arizona State)

They replaced their star defensive tackle with Javon Kinlaw, who has excellent technique and penetrates well. He can make a guard or center wobble with his strength and cause them to lose their balance. Brandon Aiyuk will be asked to replace the production lost by veteran departures but it’s an unknown how he’ll adapt to the 49ers offense. Still, repaced key departures with viable prospects.

Grade: A (Sometimes it’s not sexy but it works)

Arizona – LB Isaiah Simmons (Clemson)

The Cardinals are in a rough way. Sure, Kliff Kingsbury house is something out of a really good MTV Cribbs episode, or from a really really high-quality adult film but Isaiah Simmons can’t play everywhere; despite the draft-day hype. The team needed help offensively, defensively and I’m pretty sure even their punter could use new shoes. Was staying pat the smartest decision? We’ll see how round’s two and three shakes out.

Grade B+ (Simmons was the best player on the board but not necessarily at their biggest position of need)

Los Angeles (Rams) – None

That Jalen Ramsey trade was great, but again, no pick no pass. The Rams were thought to be SuperBowl contenders for years to come but in one off-season they cut one of their starting linebackers, their starting running back, and haven’t made a lot of moves due to the cash-strapped nature of their team. Not only is this a fail, but the Rams are so close to having to blow up their entire team due to how mangled their cap is.

Grade: F (Don’t show up to a party empty-handed!)
