NFL Draft: Second day grades for the 2020 NFL Draft
By Chad Porto
Day two of the 2020 NFL Draft is in the books, but how did the teams do in rounds two and three? Did any teams make some wildly bad decisions?
The NFL Draft for 2020 is three-sevenths of the way done; with rounds two and three being completed Friday evening. A total of two full rounds eclipsed with 32 teams gobbling up as much talent as possible. Some teams nailed it, while others were utterly lost with their decision making. As is the recurring story for most years.
The highlights of the draft involved more young men telling stories of heartache and triumph, with ESPN seemingly abandoning the actual draft announcements sometime in round three, resulting in just posting who was taken, instead of having the commissioner read out every pick. Which might be for the best, seeing as how Commissioner Roger Goodell took to lounging at various points of the night. Looking like a less pleasant version of Mr. Rodgers, Goodell earned more and more fans’ respect throughout the second day for his ability to keep everyone engaged during the long process.
No one stole the show though more than Bill Belichick’s Alaskan Klee Kai, however. During a break, Belichick left his “war room” and ventured into the living room to presumably watch the latest season of Power Rangers (hey, you never know) and while Belichik was gone, his faithful pooch watched over the proceedings. It became everyone’s favorite running gag and meme throughout the rest of the night.
The best part though was often ignored, when the always private Belichick tilted the screen down so the dog couldn’t read it. Sometimes you can’t make this stuff up. The rest of the draft was not nearly as eventful, nor was there any funny reactions like we saw on night one. That said, players still got drafted so let’s see how everyone did.
Just a reminder, this is only a team’s grade for their work on day two. Like on day one, no picks, automatic ‘F’.
