AFC South

Indianapolis – RB Johnathan Taylor (Wisconsin), SAF Julian Blackmon (Utah)

The Colts didn’t have a first-round pick but did nail two starters for their 2020 squad with Johnathan Taylor and Julian Blackmon. Taylor should be instant offense for the Colts in 2020, as they continue to look out for their quarterback of the future in rounds four or five (or beyond). Julian Blackmon was a great third-round pick up who should start right away.

Grade: B+ (Still no quarterback.)

Tennessee – CB Kristan Fulton (LSU), RB Darrynton Evans (Appalachian State)

The Titans aren’t a team with too many glaring needs, but one of them was not running back. While you don’t just want one good one on your squad, it seems like an unnecessary move to get Darrynton Evans when there were wide receivers and tight ends for the Titans to try and go get. They could also use some more dynamic play on the defensive line. These picks might be genius but the only way to know is when they play. Until then…

Grade: C (Running back isn’t a position of stellar need early for them.)

Houston – DT Ross Blacklock (TCU), OLB Johnathan Greenard (Florida)

I’m a Penn State fan, and seeing Bill O’Brien leave was marvelous. He’s not very good at his job. The Texans have no one on offense to help Deshaun Watson, and if you’re hoping David Johnson is that guy, keep hoping. Even if he’s healthy he’s not a receiver. The Texans have a good defense and it hopefully just got better but the lack of moves to improve a gutted offense is concerning.

Grade: D+ (Watson can’t do it on his own and you did just trade his favorite weapon.)

Jacksonville – LB K’Lavon Chaisson (LSU), WR Laviska Shenault (Colorado), DT Davon Hamilton (OSU)

Jacksonville continues to load up on defense. Their offense played well (enough) last year, and Gardner Minshew will be given the reigns full time in 2020. Laviska Shenault should help with his performance in 2020. The defense is much improved, in theory, and should be a force to once again worry about.

Grade: B+ (Would like a lineman to block for Minshew and the Leonard Fournette rumors continue to hang overhead. Do the Jags need a new RB?)
