A new rumor has the Cleveland Browns having offered Jadeveon Clowney $18 million.

The Cleveland Browns attachment saga with Jadeveon Clowney hasn’t ended any time recently. The team and player have been linked to the former No. 1 overall pick for the last two months. Numerous rumors have attached the player with the team but nothing has materialized so far. The last big report had the former Texans and Seahawks defensive end rejecting the Cleveland Browns offer.

Another new report from Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk has the Browns allegedly offering $18 million dollars. Which is $3 million more than the Seattle Seahawks, who apparently offered Clowney $15 million but for only one year. Clowney is looking for more than a one-year deal, yet if rumors are to be true then he’s also looking for more than the best deal.

Who had a better offer?

The Browns allegedly offered Clowney a multi-year deal, and if the $18 million is to believe then that’s easily the best deal that Clowney has been received Clowney came down from his original asking price of $20 million, and it was rumored he came down even further past the $18 million mark.

If everything we’ve heard is true, then that reinforces the notion that Clowney is just not interested in the Cleveland Browns after all. To turn down such a hefty contract offer when no better one exists is a sign that Clowney isn’t interested in buying what the Browns are selling.

Maybe Clowney feels he can use the Seahawks and Browns to get back to $20 million by leveraging deals off of each other. Yet, both teams seem pretty steadfast in their respective deals, as no one is reporting that the Browns sent a new deal to Clowney, while the Seahawks have long been linked to standing pat with the offer already made.

That’s a strong sign that unless a new suitor enters the game late, then eventually Clowney will have to choose between the Seahawks tryout deal or sign with a team he has trepidations about.
