Cleveland Cavaliers free agency rumors: 3 realistic forward targets
2. Juancho Hernangomez
If the Cavs can’t land Jones, another name Hollinger floated was that of Minnesota combo forward Juancho Hernangomez.
Hernangomez is enjoying his best year as a pro, averaging 12.9 points and 7.3 rebounds per contest, while shooting 42 percent from beyond the arc.
Per the long time cap scribe, the Timberwolves have three days to match an offer sheet, so the Cavs may miss out on other options if they wait around for an answer.
Hernangomez, who is the brother of Willie, was the 15th overall pick in the 2016 draft by the Nuggets.
He’ll be 25 in late October, but his presence helps in various ways, mainly is that he can be used in the four spot. With Tristan Thompson ready to walk in free agency, the Cavs may need some help up front. That of course, could change if Cleveland select Obi Toppin in the the draft, but as for now, there’s too many moving parts to firmly say what direction the organization might be heading.
As we continue to guess and wait for actually to be played, keep Hernangomez as option in the back of your mind.
