Cleveland Browns TE David. Njoku wants a trade, but his trade value is low.

Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku is looking for a trade from the Cleveland Browns, and while the Dallas Cowboys are trying to tamp down speculation, perhaps the former first-round pick could land at one of these locations.

The Browns have known for a year that Njoku has been unhappy, but based off actions taken by the front office, the team was ready to move forward with the Miami product on the roster, even after the additions of free agent Austin Hooper and Hunter Bryant.

If the Browns were to look into a trade, fans might be disappointed at what the return would yield. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler tweeted Njoku might only fetch a fourth- or fifth-round pick for the tight end.

If that’s really Njoku’s value, you could understand why the Browns would choose to keep the soon-to-be 24-year-old. While he was hurt most of 2019, his potential started turning into on-field results during the 2018 campaign, in which he caught 56 balls for 639 yards and four scores, while chemistry with Baker Mayfield was surging.

There were a ton of problems in 2019, and having Njoku probably wasn’t going to transform the Browns into a playoff team. However, it sounds like he was salty before the injury, and then he didn’t endear himself to then-GM John Dorsey and coach Freddie Kitchens as he healed.

Some, including myself, were beginning to get back on the Njoku’s bandwagon as more comes out about Kevin Stefanski’s offensive, and particularly, the use of multiple tight ends.

As Njoku’s place on the roster was deemed safe by the team picking up his fifth-year option, it looked like he’d be a part of the offense, even with the signing of Hooper.

While the drafting of Bryant is being applauded, it’s not fair to expect the Florida Atlantic product, who was drafted in the fourth round, to do so much heavy lifting in year one. So, Hooper and Njoku. Let’s go….and then the news of Njoku demanding a trade.

Don’t look for the Browns to meet his demand, especially if the market value really is a fourth or fifth round pick. It’s in Njoku’s best interest to play and give some life to his stock, as he will be a free agent in two seasons after his age 25 season.
