The Cleveland Browns continue to be tied to trade rumors involving the Jacksonville Jaguars Yannick Ngakoue.

The Cleveland Browns continue to be rumored to the Jacksonville Jaguars Yannick Ngakoue, according to Mary-Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com. The Browns have apparently been trying to shore up their defensive end spot for most of the offseason, yet a new deal for Olivier Vernon was thought to put the stop to any and all rumors involving The Browns pursuing another high-end chip to add to their team.

Apparently not.

Money-wise, it wouldn’t be the best move and would probably take a contract like the one Odell Beckham Jr. has to make the move fiscally responsible. The team put guaranteed money on Vernon’s deal before going on to give Myles Garrett a huge new contract as well. It’s entirely possible that the deal can still be done but part of obtaining Ngakoue is to make sure he’s under pressure for years to come.

He’s currently in the last year of his deal and a trade for him would have to come with a new contract, one would think. Seeing that the Seattle Seahawks gave up two first-round picks for safety Jamal Adams, the price for Ngakoue is going to be steep. Maybe not two first-round picks and a third, but at least one first-round and a third-round pick. Maybe a third-round and Beckham?

The move would arguably see Vernon play a more dynamic role in the defense, lining up at linebacker, inside at tackle, or maybe even just have three ends rushing at once. With Vernon’s experience playing linebacker in a 3-4, he knows how to turn his hips and pursue in coverage, so he wouldn’t be completely lost out there.

The only thing that people are really saying for sure is that if a deal is done, David Njoku is likely to not be apart of it because the Jaguars have no interest in him. So if the deal were to get done it’d be through some other means.
