The Cleveland Browns are going to need to see these three players step up if they hope to beat the Washington Football Team on Sunday.

The Cleveland Browns are looking at what could be a very weird game come Sunday. The Washington Football Team’s offense is very bad, but so is the Cleveland Browns defense. Someone, on either side of the field, has to make a play or two, right? Asking the defense to do anything but their bare minimum seems like a daunting task at this point in the season.

So watching that part of the game is going to be like watching the two worst youth soccer teams trying to score a goal. It’s going to get ugly. The real action will be the, let’s call it erratic, Browns offense and the Football Team’s solid defense.

The Browns had a big game in Week 2 against the Bengals but there’s still some lingering doubt that the Browns “real” offense was what fans saw Week 1 against the Ravens. One of those versions of this Browns offense is real, but which one? Washington’s coming to town to find out.

These are the three Browns players that need to step up against the Washington Football Team.

Myles Garrett

Myles Garrett had a so/so game against the Bengals. He had a sack, sure, but it was up the gut over the worst offensive linemen the Bengals had. That’s just one notch up over Michael Strahan’s pitty sack on Brett Favre. Garrett has yet to get a sack against any offensive tackles dating back six games now. The Washington Football Team is ripe for the pickings. If Garrett can’t have a monster day here, it’s time to start worrying.

Austin Hooper

Statistically speaking, Austin Hooper has not had a good start to his Browns tenure. That said, Hooper has been a big key in the running game and his blocking has been stellar. Against a team with linebackers who blitz and all sorts of wacky stunts up front, Hooper might actually have a big day if targeted in the middle of the field. He’s going to need a big game too, as this Washington team loves to get after the quarterback, making it possible he gets more targets than usual.

Baker Mayfield

There’s really no other name to expect on this list, is there? Baker Mayfield is always going to make these lists because he’s the franchise quarterback and he needs to play like one. If he plays well against the Washington Football team, he may just be able to get some fans on his side and start to convince the naysayers that he’s capable of doing this long term in Cleveland.
