The Indians post-season award parade may have gotten longer as Zach Plesac, Roberto Perez and Cesar Hernandez were all finalists for the Gold Glove award.

The Cleveland Indians have three finalists for the Rawling’s Gold Glove Award, the year-end picks for the best fielders at their positions – from pitchers to outfielders – and everyone in between. The Indians have been a usual contender for various positions throughout the years, and this year pitcher Zach Plesac, catcher Roberto Perez and second basemen Cesar Hernandez will have the chance to add their names to that illustrious list. This could end up being a hardware rich offseason for the Tribe.

With wins, they would join past winners like Francisco Lindor, Grady Sizemore, Omar Vizquel, Roberto Alomar, Travis Fryman, Matt Williams, and Kenny Lofton to name a few. For Perez, he’s already a past winner and is looking to win his second Gold Glove in a row. Something that even Tribe legend Sandy Alomar Jr. wasn’t able to do.

There was some scuttlebutt early in the day regarding the award, however. The award for second base had a bit of controversy when it was revealed Hernandez, Chicago White Sox’s Danny Mendick, and Detroit Tigers’ Johnathan Schoop were finalists but not the Kansas City Royal’s Nicky Lopez. Due to the error, the folks at Rawlings put him on as one of the finalists for the AL second base award. Making it an all AL Central final-four and only the Minnesota Twins without a representative.

For the catcher award, Perez is contending with a pair of White Sox players in Yasmani Grandal and James McCann. While Plesac is going to be challenged by the Angles Griffin Canning and Minnesota Twins’ Kenta Maeda.

The hope is that the Indians win at least one of the three, but a clean sweep would be beautiful.
