Could LaMelo Ball be against joining the Cleveland Cavaliers? A new rumor claims he isn’t taking any meetings with the Cavs who could still draft him.

If you’re a fan of the Cavaliers, and a fan of the youngest Ball brother, this news may be a bit off-putting. LaMelo Ball will apparently not interview with the Cavs, who currently hold the fifth spot in the upcoming 2020 NBA Draft. Now, this may be nothing more than Ball wanting to limit the interview process to just the top-four teams, as Ball is expected to go anywhere from No. 1 to No. 4 overall in the draft.

The Cavs, however, could still get him if he drops to No. 5, or if they trade up as they’ve been rumored to want to do. If the Cavs do draft Ball, is he going to be ok with playing in Cleveland? It’s not shocking to ask this question, considering Ball’s father once famously campaigned for his other son, Lonzo, to be drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers, only to be later traded. A trade his father bemoaned about, wanting Lonzo to land in Phoenix.

So clearly the Balls have become the Mannings of the NBA, but will LaMelo and family be ok with playing in Cleveland? If the Cavs think LaMelo isn’t interested in playing in Cleveland, will they still take him if he’s there, or will they refocus to someone else like Obi Toppin or Deni Avdija?

It’s entirely possible Ball will play for whoever drafts him, that’s something the Cavs have to figure out by the NBA Draft, on Nov 18. With rumors that Avdija wants to be with the Warriors and the concerns over Toppins defense, there isn’t many sure-fired picks this year that make total sense for the Cavs.

The one thing most fans agree on, draft a wing, or trade some of the guards.
