Browns COVID list entering Week 12 getting packed
The Browns COVID list currently contains five players
The Browns COVID watch is in full effect, as it’s a wonder if the team will have anyone left on defense prior to the start of Cleveland’s Week 12 matchup vs the Jaguars.
It’s been a crazy week all around as Ohio State’s coach Ryan Day tested positive for the virus, while the NFL had to postpone the Ravens and Steelers prime-time matchup up multiple times.
There are five players on the Browns COVID list has the team heads to Jacksonville in search of its eighth win.
Browns players on the COVID-19/reserve list include Porter Gustin, Sione Takitaki, Myles Garrett and Joe Jackson. On the offensive side, fullback Andy Janovich tested positive last Tuesday and is also expected to miss Sunday’s action.
Garrett is expected to miss his second game of the season because of the virus. Gustin was tasked with replacing Garrett, and now he’ll be absent. Jackson also plays defensive end.
With the position’s numbers dwindling by the day, the Browns active players in the group include Olivier Vernon, Adrian Clayborn, and Cameron Malveaux. Vernon’s coming off his best game as a Brown after recording three sacks, while Cameron Malveaux will be called off the practice squad for the second-straight week. Malveaux helped force the fumble near the goal line early on against Philly.
The defense is seemingly in peril entering the contest, as Denzel Ward suffered a cal injury and is expected to miss several weeks.
Takitaki is coming off the best game of his NFL career in which he recorded a Pick-6 against the Eagles in Week 11.
In good news, Chris Hubbard was activated from the reserve list after missing last week’s game.
Per NFL protocols, a player who tests positive and who displayed symptoms can only return to team actvities after it has been 10 days from the time symptoms first arrived and it has been 24 hours since that player had symptoms.
