Cavs don’t rank on FanSided 250 and 2021 won’t see a turn around of that

The Cavs have been a mess for years, and 2020 saw the team reach far new lows, so it’s no surprise that their fandom doesn’t crack the FanSided 250.

The Cavs have had a rough 2020 and 2021 won’t be much better for the franchise, so the fanbase better buckle up. The team saw coaching turnovers, players threatening to mutiny, trades for veteran players, all while the team tanked to get younger and higher draft prospects, the Cavs are a mess. So it’s no wonder why they didn’t make the FanSided 250.

When ranking the fanbases and the teams they belong to, you have to give respect to the Cavs fandom. They stick around through thick and thin and defense their own to a unique degree. The problem is the fandom has shrunk since LeBron James left town and the team isn’t exactly being well run by GM Koby Altman.

Altman signed guys like Kevin Love, Cedi Osman, and Larry Nance Jr to extensions and traded for Andre Drummond, all while drafting younger players, usually who are missing gaping skillsets, and forcing them to need time before they can contribute.

Altman’s decision to draft projects, while also keeping the Cavs older and more expensive players despite having no shot at the playoffs,  has made this team into a chimera of strategies. The team has no clear direction and they seem to just be making decisions as they come up, instead of planning and preparing for them. Their latest decision was drafting Issac Okoro at the fifth overall spot in the NBA Draft, despite all the experts saying he has no real offensive game to speak of.

Now the Cavs fanbase has yet another prospect to deal with, on top of more drama from the team that includes Kevin Porter Jr. having been involved in an assault on two women.

The Cavs are a mess, and the fanbase should be thankful that they seemingly got forgotten about, even though multiple WNBA teams made the list ahead of them. Not a dig at the WNBA, but there’s no way a WNBA team has more fans than the Cavs.

If the WNBA is knocking off the Cavaliers, it should tell you all you need to know about the state of the franchise.
