5 Browns whose stock is soaring after playoff clincher vs Steelers
5. Stephen Carlson
He did one thing the entire game, but the butt recovery on a Steelers’ onside kick attempt with over a minute remaining sealed a playoff berth for the Browns.
On the kick, Carlson got stuck in no man’s land when he didn’t react to bounce of the ball. He ended up sitting on it as he fell to the grass in his attempt to scoop it up. Carlson was able to grab ahold of it as Steelers torpedoed into a quickly formed pile.
Had he not come up with the ball, you know how that game would’ve ended. Rudolph would’ve hit on a pass to Chase Claypool and Pittsburgh would’ve stolen it with a field goal as time expired.
It was shaping up to be, classic Factory of Sadness.
Alas, Stefanski’s Browns are a different brand of Browns. They may not beat Pittsburgh in the playoffs, but the Browns have a shot.
And after watching other teams compete in the playoffs the last 17 Januarys, that’s all a Browns fan can ask for.
