3. Derek Barnett

Adding Derek Barnett was also mentioned by ESPN Cleveland’s Tony Grossi. The former first-round pick is due $10 million in the final year of his rookie contract.

Perhaps a change of scenery and playing opposite of Garrett will make football fans remember that Barnett broke Reggie White’s sack record at the University of Tennessee.

Grossi also contended the Browns should try and extend him if they’re able to pull of this trade, although it would likely be short-term pact as the Browns try to figure out if he’s capable of flipping the switch.

Barnett is third on the depth chart now, so he certainly looks expendable, especially with the Eagles 2021 season dedicated to finding out if Jalen Hurts can hold onto the starting quarterback gig for the long-term.

Defensive end is a big-money position and if the Browns can get him to live up to his potential, it will have been a deal worth marking.
