Round 3, Pick 90: Cornell Powell, WR, Clemson

A recent mock had Powell going in the fifth round, but it’s been written he could move up draft boards, and the mocksters having him climbing accordingly.

Powell was listed 6-foot, 210 pounds while in college.  He caught 45 balls for 882 yards (16.6 average). He also found the end zone seven times.

This pick could become more likely depending on what happens with Higgins’ free agency. If he somehow walks, the Browns are going to need someone to step up.

It wouldn’t be fair to put a heap of expectations on Powell, but the Browns got significant contributions from Donovan Peoples-Jones last season, and he was sixth-round pick.

As for Beckham and Landry, it’s hard to see the status quo lasting beyond this year. That could mean a trade, for something less dramatic, such as contract restructure.

Either way, adding to the receiver room here isn’t a bad idea.
