Round 3, Pick 92: Alim McNeil, DL, NC State

I won’t pretend to be the Alim McNeil whisper, as NC State games were not on my television a whole lot the past couple years.

It seems like an unusual pick in that he was primarily used as a nose tackle, which isn’t what you’re looking for in a 4-3 base.

Alas, you’re looking for traits here and McNeill reportedly does a great job of keeping his legs churning to gain penetration, and getting into the backfield and rushing the quarterback is the No. 1 priority here.

It’s been written that he could probably get by as a pass rusher, the 6-foot-1, 320-pound lineman will have to do a better job of run stopping to be a full-time starter.

Cleveland will likely be in the market with Larry Ogunjobi hitting free agency. He flashed rushing skills in his first two seasons, but those moments were few and far between the past two years.
