Round 3, pick 89: Shakur Brown, CB, Michigian State

In free agency, the Browns filled the void left by Terrance Mitchell by signing Troy Hill away from the Rams.

It’s a great signing that insures stability at the position, and it won’t be surprising to see Hill starting opposite of Denzel Ward in Week 1. Hill gets a lot of run for ben a great slot defender, and that’s true, but at this point, he’s probably better than Greedy Williams on the outside.

That’s not to write Williams off, but the Browns really need to use Training Camp to figure out where Williams is. He’s played 12 games in two seasons and never damage, which Williams suffered in his shoulder, can be problematic.

As for Brown, well, if you’re feeling shaky about corner, the Michigan State product will make you feel a lot better. He was named third-team All-American, and was consistently ranked among PFF’s top corners throughout the season.

As a redshirt junior in 2020, Brown picked off five passes in seven starts. He also added four pass deflections. NFL.com projects him to be a starter within his first two seasons.
