The Cleveland Indians start their first home series of the season against the Kansas City Royals. The team will see former Tribe first basemen and catcher Carlos Santana return to Progressive Field, this time as a member of the Royals. Not only that, but the Indians lost their first series of the season against the Tigers, and are looking for a big bounce back against the Royals.

The Indians (1-2) are scheduled to go with Logan Allen, Shane Bieber, and Zach Plesac, while the Royals will send out Danny Duffy, Brad Keller, and Julio Teheran.

For the Tribe, Eddie Rosario has started off really well, going .375, with two home runs, and four RBI’s in the first series and with Keller giving up six runs in his first outing, Rosario may be able to feast off of him if he struggles again.

Three players for fans to keep an eye on.

Whit Merrifield

The Royals put up 14 and 11 runs in their first two wins of the season against the Rangers, with Whit Merrifield being a big contributor to that early success. He’s currently hitting .462, with two home runs and six RBI. The 32-year-old has spent his entire career with the Royals and has been one of their more consistent hitters.

Michael A. Taylor

Coming off a hot start to his tenure with the Royals, Michael A. Taylor couldn’t have asked for a better debut. He’s hitting .462, with two home runs, four runs, six RBIs. If he can keep the momentum going against the Indians’ elite pitching, then Taylor could be a big get for the Royals.

Carlos Santana

Lastly, an oldy but a goody. Carlos Santana joins the list of free agents for the Royals and had a great first series. He hit .393 with three RBI’s and four walks. He has an on-base percentage of .533 to start the year and has already proven he still has the patience at the plate.
