As mock draft silly seasons consumes every corner of the internet, the Browns and GM Andrew Berry will actually make a real pick when the NFL Draft commences April 29.

Mocks are all over the place with the Browns, as 5-foot-10 receivers are being mocked Cleveland’s way. So are unknown linebackers from Kentucky. Hey, diamonds in the rough come from all over the place, and prospects see their stocks rise and fall, that’s the fun of the pre-draft chatter.

That said, all the curveballs being mocked Cleveland’s way indicate that the nationally, writers don’t really have a handle on what the Browns are going to do.

I don’t see the Browns taking the top rated linebacker at No. 26, but they’re going to take the third or fourth?  The player I’m referring to is Jamin Davis. He’s extremely fast, but it’s like national mocksters such as Daniel Jeremiah aren’t up to speed on what Cleveland’s looking to do defensively. By that, I mean playing two linebackers and three safeties.

When you consider they’ve used mid-round picks to procure Sione Takitaki, Mack Wilson and Jacob Phillips, I think those players will be given more opportunities now they’ve got some experience under their belt. Factor in the addition of free agent Anthony Parker signing, in addition to Maclom Smith returning, and linebacker doesn’t look as urgent as it once was.

Here’s the three best candidates for the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, including a position group Cleveland can now pass on.
