Grading Dane Brugler’s 2021 Browns 7-round mock draft
Round 7, pick 27: Nate Hobbs, CB, Illinois
Brugler rounds out the Browns draft by selecting corner Nate Hobbs. Hard to really be against this pick, as corner is another position where teams are able to stock up on depth.
And with the way the game is going these days, you really can’t have enough corners. It used to be that to have a lock down corner playing opposite a really good corner would make your secondary a wonder.
Then, having three corners, with one playing nickel covering the slot receiver became imperative as offenses became as pass-happy as ever.
Now, you better have four corners ready to play a lot of snaps, as your team is an injuy away from putting your secondary in disarray.
Newsome going in the first round certainly gives the Browns the extra starter they need, with the top four corners projected to be Denzel Ward, Troy Hill and Greedy Williams. But after that, the only experienced player on the team is M.J. Stewart.
That’s not to say Hobbs will make the roster, but perhaps he latches on to the practice squad.
