Cleveland Browns: 5 biggest roster battles brewing after 2021 NFL Draft
4. Cleveland Browns final WR spot
Battle: JoJo Natson vs Khadarel Hodge
Look for Auburn rookie Anthony Schwartz to not just make the final roster, but to be a contributor in 2021. His speed just can’t be taught.
JoJo Natson, who was signed last offseason, got hurt last season, and I just don’t see a roster opening for him barring an injury to someone else.
We’re all thinking about Schwartz as a downfield threat, but his potential in the red zone can’t be overlooked. The field gets shorter down there, and having speed can cause havoc on defenses.
OBJ and Jarvis Landry are locks. Rashard Higgins should be too, but you never know. He’s clearly a better receiver than Khadarel Hodge, but the coaches were giving Hodge the reps early in the season because of his blocking ability. It’s like they needed to see Higgins in a real game so they could see how good he actually is.
Hodge should also make the roster, then there’s Donovan Peoples-Jones. Add in Schwartz and that’s six.
