Cavs year-end report card and awards for the 2020-2021 season
By Chad Porto
The Cavs season is over, so how did they do?
The Cavs finished the year with a record of 22-50, the third straight losing season, and their first under J.B. Bickerstaff for an entire season. Bickerstaff took over the Cavs to close out the 2019-2020 season where he went 5-6 until the regular season was postponed.
The Cavs did not do well in 2020-2021 and not just on the court. As dramatic and problematic as their play was from game to game, their behind the scene antics and disorganized chaos was just as bad. The Cavs saw Kevin Love, Kevin Porter Jr., Andre Drummond, and Collin Sexton all generated headlines for being miserable malcontents, anger-fueled maniacs, primadonnas who pout, or teammates completely fine with trying to embarrass one another openly.
The Cavs were anything but a cohesive unit and it wasn’t just the lack of on-court or locker room chemistry either. The Cavs suffered tremendous amounts of injuries, causing the team to never really have a consistent team to rely on. Made even worse was the fact that the Cavs had 25 different players suit up for the franchise during the season, making sure that even when injuries happened, that the team couldn’t find a rhythm as players were constantly on their way out the door.
The team has now found itself in a place where many are pushing for major changes. Either a new general manager, a new coach, new star players, or all three. The team is no longer being viewed in the same light and that’s not too hard to understand why, as several key players either failed to step up or only improved in one aspect of their game.
So let’s find out who didn’t completely disappoint the fans this season.
