We’re still talking about how the Browns were railroaded by the CBS Top 100 Players’ list.

The Browns had five players on the Top 100 player list that came out earlier this week by Pete Prisco. The names on the list were expected for the most part, with Myles Garrett, Nick Chubb, Wyatt Teller, and Joel Bitonio all making the list expectedly. The one surprising name was Odell Beckham Jr.

Yet, while four of those five names deserve to be on the list, there were three other Browns players who absolutely deserved to be listed among the best in the game today.

These are those three players.

The three players who should’ve been on the CBS Top 100 list.

OT Jack Conklin

Simply put, Jack Conklin is one of the best tackles in all of football, full stop. We’re not playing the “best right or left” game, Conklin could easily be the team’s left tackle if given the opportunity, which wouldn’t be a bad idea. Jedrick Wills struggled last year as a rookie and was outperformed by numerous guys taken after him in the draft. Conklin is a far more sure-fire option protecting Baker Mayfield’s blindside, but even if he only ever stays at right tackle, he’s proven to be the most consistent player on the line.

C J.C. Tretter

J.C. Tretter is a heck of a smart guy. He’s the Browns’ assignment director, calling out switches, shifts and pointing out potential blitz packages. He’s become a focal point for the Browns blocking packages and his ability to open up holes and get his guys in position has been a god-send for the offensive line.

QB Baker Mayfield

Baker Mayfield had a statistically proven top 10 season among quarterbacks. Yet, dozen-plus names made the list before Mayfield. Why? Well, because people are obsessed with his one unimpressive season. Imagine being an NFL analyst and saying Peyton Manning didn’t prove anything in his career because he once had a 20+ interception season. No one is saying Mayfield is better than Aaron Rodgers or Patrick Mahomes, but he’s proven to be a great quarterback and one the team should build around.
