The Cavs should go after these three restricted free agent point guards.

The Cavs may not have the most money available to them but if they’re able to shed some salary and free up their cap space, the team should seriously take a run at one of these four restricted free agent point guards.

The team needs help at the guard spot and whether or not you think Darius Garland is a good player or not, there’s no doubt he could use help. Whether that means he’s coming off the bench or starting.

So these are the three names the Cavs should take a look at this offseason.

Lonzo Ball

A controversial pick for sure, but not one without its merits. With a terrible shooting motion in mind, Lonzo Ball has started to put together a solid, if not unimpressive career. He’s averaging 11 points, six assists, and five rebounds for his career and those have been on teams that haven’t really featured him all too well.

Putting Ball on the Cavs would put Ball in a great position. He’d be able to command the offense with his skillful passing and maybe even see his numbers shoot up if the Cavs can surround him with real scoring threats beyond just Collin Sexton. Not just that, he’s never had a negative defensive rating in his career. His RAPTOR scores defensively have always been in the positives. The Cavs are a defensive-minded team and Ball would make a perfect impact on that side of the ball.

Not only that, but his three-point shooting has improved, and he’s taking a whopping eight per game. Considering how bad the Cavs have been at shooting threes and on defense, getting Ball would improve a lot more than many may realize.
