Cavs: Will ‘Core 4’ finally win, or just PR Spin?
4. Cavs wing Isaac Okoro
What was said: He’s second team all-rookie
I still see Otto Porter in Isaac Okoro, which isn’t a bad thing if say, LeBron James was on your team. Okoro can defend and showed flashes that some of his offensive game will get better with more time in the league.
Verdict: It’s so hard to say no about a guy after one season, but this is the sports blogging business, so I better be decisive.
Consider this: Porter averaged 13.7 points in the season before his extension kicked in, while shooting 44 percent from the field.
Obviously, Washington didn’t win anything with and traded him a season and a half later. From there, Porter went on to Chicago where he’s been a solid, NBA player.
Again, Okoro would be an excellent complementary player, assuming the Cavs can eventually strike gold in the draft, but at the end of the day, he looks expendable.
