If Nick Chubb’s ever going to get the respect he deserves on a national level, he’s probably going to have to do something like rush for 500 yards and score seven touchdowns en route to the Cleveland Browns first ever Super Bowl win.

It’s no secret just how excellent Chubb is in Cleveland, but the former second-round pick continues to fall to the back of the line when upper-tier running backs are discussed.

One of the talking heads on ESPN had Chubb behind Christian McCaffery and Alvin Kamara on the list of top running backs ahead of Cleveland’s No. 24. Fantasy football owners will tell you how often McCaffery’s injured, while we’ll all see how great Kamara is without Drew Brees running the Saints’ system.

Even PFF, which loves to hail Chubb as an analytical darling, dogged him in their list of the top 50 players in the league. The site had Henry (12), Dalvin Cook (26) and McCaffery (30) on the list ahead of Chubb, who came in at 37. Kamara came in 39th.

Hey, it’s a great thing Chubb is on this list at all. I mean, to be a top 50 player in the NFL is kind of a big deal. However, you won’t convince me that the argument about the two best backs is a two horse race between Chubb and Henry.

Cleveland Browns RB deserves more respect

One would think Chubb would command a little more respect. Maybe it’s because he doesn’t have the credentials of a rushing title. If you’ll recall, he would have it, had Freddie Kitchens been a capable head coach.

In terms of what he has done, Chubb consistently ranks as one of the most elusive backs in the league. He had a monster game in the playoff victory over Pittsburgh, and then there was his act of unselfishness when he ran out of bounds after ripping off a long run so Cleveland could run out the clock against the Texans Nov. 14.

The dis on Chubb is just another example of Cleveland Against The World. Let him keep being the best kept secret in football so he keeps punching the opposition in the teeth.
