Browns: 3 of the most incorrect things Mike Tannenbaum said about Cleveland
By Chad Porto
That the Browns NEED Odell Beckham and Jadeveon Clowney to make the playoffs.
"Injuries can be hugely consequential for the Cleveland Browns. Odell Beckham [Jr. and] Jadeveon Clowney, they have to play in 17 games for this team to be productive. …And in the second round, Cleveland drafted Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah from Notre Dame. If he can stay healthy, he could be an impact player, but those three players need to play 17 games to give Cleveland a chance to go deep in the playoffs."
Firstly, what does playing 17 games have to do with going deep into the playoffs? That’s like saying the Cavs need to win 60 games in the regular season to get to the second round. It’s gibberish. It has nothing to do with anything. It’s double-speak from a used car salesman who’s trying to convince you that the extra heated seats will keep you alive in a snowstorm if you’re buried under snow.
The Browns didn’t have Jadeveon Clowney last year and they were fine. The Browns didn’t need Odell Beckham Jr. last year, and they were fine. Clowney has never been that consistent of a star, and Beckham hasn’t been an elite player in four years. Heck, Beckham had one impressive game in 2020 and it was because he took an unexpected handoff for a touchdown.
Even when Beckham is on the field he’s not making the impact many think he can. The Browns got along fine without him, so to insinuate that the team NEEDS these players is a flat-out lie.
