4. Greg Newsome got burned

All rookies make mistake–and things were no different for Browns rookie corner Greg Newsome.

Fellow rookie Trevor Lawrence threw for 71 yards, and 35 yards of his total came on a big completion to Marvin Jones Jr.

Unfortunately, Newsome got burned on the play and had his back to the ball on the throw. I mean, of course he had to turn his back to catch up, otherwise, Jones would’ve been on an island.

Not much else to say, other than this is why the first-round picks play. Nothing can replicate NFL game action-even if it is the preseason. Rookies don’t know any better because they’ve experienced anything like it.

Watching Newsome should be of note though, because he is in competition with Greedy Williams for the starting job opposite of Denzel Ward.

Williams gave up a first down–but made the tackle. The fact he was able to get on the field is a step in the right direction.
