RB John Kelly

Hello, old friend. We expected John Kelly to be among the first cut in Week 1 of the preseason and we were wrong. That’s the bad news. The good news, we’ll be right eventually. Either he’ll be among the Week 2 cuts, or he’ll be among the final Week 3 cuts that will see the most guys let go at once this year, with 27 cuts needing to be made.

Either way, Kelly isn’t going to be on this team for much longer.

Kelly didn’t look good in his first game against the Jaguars, and while the running backs as a whole struggled behind the Browns’ second-team offensive line, everyone else had a nice run, but Kelly. In fact, Kelly didn’t even post a positive yard while rushing the ball, finishing the night with -1 yards, on eight carries.

He did provide a nice outlet option for the quarterbacks, catching four passes for 44 yards but considering Kareem Hunt and Demetric Felton are firmly entrenched ahead of him, he really doesn’t provide much for the team that someone else can’t do better.

Maybe Kelly would have a longer shelf life if it weren’t for Johnny Stanton starting to impress folks, but it is what it is.
