6 things Cleveland Browns did right, wrong vs Giants in preseason win
5. Got wrong: Lauletta’s scramble
Even with the backups in, I couldn’t help but hold my breath when Kyle Lauletta took off on a 30-yard scramble down the field. That’s not what Stefanski drew up, but when the play broke down, Lauletta ran.
I feared an offensive lineman would suffer a season ending knee injury, or D’Ernest Johnson would tear his ACL recovering the fumble. Those plays are scary, especially in games that don’t mean anything.
Yeah, it’s nitpicking, but throw the thing away and get into the locker room.
As for Lauletta, he played really well for the second-straight week in a row, going 14 for 23 yards for 152 yards.
His trade has even led some to wonder if the team could trade Case Keenum in favor of making Lauletta the backup. I’m not ready to do that, but it speaks to how well Lauletta is playing.
