How much can the first-round picks’ stock go up? Well, after two preseason games, I think it’s safe to say Newsome has earned the right to start opposite of Denzel Ward in Week 1.

Williams had two tackles while playing 17 snaps at outside corner, and another eight in the slot.

Greedy Williams left the game with a groin injury, although it wasn’t expected to be serious.

Unfortunately, availability is the biggest ability we’re looking at when it comes to Williams and frankly, he’s someone the Browns just can’t count on right now. Factor that in with Newsome playing well, and yeah, the rookie needs to start.

That’s not to say Williams won’t play a lot. It’s the NFL in 2021. Teams are going to pass–a lot. There will be plenty of opportunities for Williams once the season gets going.

Plus, perhaps playing him spots will ease him back into game action after he missed all of last year with that unfortunate shoulder injury.
