4. Cleveland Browns potential target? Jody Fortson, TE, Chiefs

The converted wideout is trying to make it on the Chiefs depth chart as a tight end, but he could get crunched.

That leaves the Browns tight end situation, which is strong up top with David Njoku, Austin Hooper, and Harrison Bryant all expected to contribute.

A spot opened up, though, when Stephen Carlson went down for the season earlier in the preseason.

There’s some chatter about fullback Johnny Stanton catching on with the team in a backup full back, fourth tight-end role. Jordan Franks will also get some consideration.

Fortson has four catches this preseason for 80 yards. As a former receiver, he brings the athleticism you’d like to see from tight ends in today’s NFL.

Considering the Browns’ uncertainty with Stanton and Franks, the team could very well be in the market for a fourth tight end, even if it’s not Fortson.
