3. Cleveland Browns S John Johnson III

The Browns big free-agent signing is coming up bust–and this video, where Johnson appears to get worked without really expending any effort won’t help his case, with the fans, anyway.

Save for last week in Cincinnati, the book on Johnson repeats itself. He blows coverages. Doesn’t tackle. Gets manhandled by blockers. Doesn’t impact the game.

It’s been both said and written that the Browns are playing Johnson out of position. The three-safety look takes Johnson away from the line of scrimmage, where I’m told he’s at his best, in favor of putting Ronnie Harrison there.

Defensive coordinator Joe Woods must be on the hot seat after this one, and he better figure things out, fast. Johnson was a playmaker with LA, but with Cleveland, he mirrors veteran Andrew Sendejo, an aging veteran who was forced into playing time because of injuries.

Sendejo was near the end. Johnson’s in his prime and the Browns are heavily invested.
