Cleveland Guardians ‘Fastball G’ logo unbelievably popular

The Cleveland Guardians unleashed their new merchandise in time for the holidays and in doing so, social media got another chance to bash the team’s “Fastball G” logo.

However, in another sign Twitter isn’t real life, the “Fastball G” was THE most popular choice in the first few days of sale.

According to The Athletic’s Bill Shea, the “Fastball G” outsold the Diamond C look by a 2-to-1 margin during the first weekend available to purchase, Nov. 19-21.

Not much is being talked about it in the local media, but this shouldn’t come as that big of a surprise. The masses want something more than a freaking C–and while it’s not perfect, it’s something different–even if it is a different letter with some wings.

Remember, Chief Wahoo has more or less been off store shelves since the end of the 2019 season. Since then, it’s been the boring Block C look. With the team keeping the color scheme the same, the Diamond C isn’t really all that different.

The best selling item has a Fastball G hat, made in the ’47 Brands garment wash style.

Additionally, while there have been some spouting off about never buying new merchant, the Guardians are doing just fine for now. Sales across opening weekend “exceed expectations by 40 percent,” according to Shea.

Hopefully this stuff becomes more widely available, because while Fanatics has Guardians gear, there’s not a lot of caps feating the G.

Anyways, I know the broken sign was easy fodder, but a good debut for the Guardians and I expect the logo to evolve now that the hard part of getting the name out there is over. Not sure how the lawsuit with the roller derby team played out, but if I’m the Guards, I’d make an offer for their logo.

Just take the roller derby hat off and throw a ball cap on him. Boom. Simple easy.
