Cavs sweep tough road trip to extend win streak to four

The Cleveland Cavaliers capped off another tough road trip by making quick work of previous tormentors Washington Wizards, 116-101. The Cavs will return to Cleveland unscathed following their fourth consecutive double-digit victory away from home.

After suffering a heartbreaking three-point loss to the Wizards at home three weeks ago, the Cavaliers made certain the end result will be much different this time around, racing to an early double-digit lead in the second quarter without ever looking back.

The duo of Darius Garland and Jarrett Allen accounted for more than half of the Cavs’ scoring as they continued to surprise with a complete obliteration of another playoff team, leading by as much as 36 points at one point in the second half.

Garland exploded for 32 markers to go with 10 assists, partnering with Allen who continued to build his resume for the 2022 All-Star with 28 points to go with 13 rebounds and two blocked shots in the blowout win.

Time to take the Cavs resurgence seriously

The young Cavaliers also continued to write history during this dominant stretch, with Evan Mobley winning the NBA’s Rookie of the Month honors and Darius Garland becoming only the third Cavs player to ever tally a 32-10-8 line, the first to do so since LeBron James.

Four-straight blowout wins on the road also marked the first time Cleveland has swept a road trip against three teams above .500 since 1975. That was more than four decades ago.

Cleveland surges back up to an unexpected 13-10 record with a little over a quarter the season through, resuming their quest to chase for a play-in/playoff berth all the while proving that the early-season success was not a fluke.

With a (nearly) complete roster with a united and focused approach, it could only be a matter of time for the resolute squad to quash all doubts that this resurgence is real.

The Cavs will now look to erect the team’s longest winning streak of the season when they return home to host another formidable team in Western Conference playoff contenders Utah Jazz on December 5th.
