Cavs hunt down depleted Bucks for sixth straight blowout victory
Cavs rout Bucks for season-best six straight wins
The Cleveland Cavaliers extended their longest win streak for the season after another thorough blowout victory, this time on the road against a depleted Milwaukee Bucks team. Despite also being without star rookie Evan Mobley, the Cavs capitalized on the advantage to secure the 119-90 win.
Cleveland came away with another landslide victory after leading for about three and a half quarters against a severely depleted Bucks team that was without All-Stars Giannis Antetokoumnpo, Khris Middleton, and Jrue Holiday.
The Cavs were also short of key cogs in the absence of two erstwhile red-hot starters Mobley and Isaac Okoro as both entered the NBA’s health and safety protocols, but still had plenty of weapons with bench ace Cedi Osman led Cleveland in scoring with 23 markers and rising star Darius Garland finishing with 22.
Meanwhile, veteran reserves Ricky Rubio and Kevin Love were just as instrumental as they scored 15 points each and combined for 12 boards and 14 assists in the blowout.
Cavs continue road trip with visits to Atlanta and Boston
With another huge win, Cleveland improved to 19-12, only trailing the Chicago Bulls on percentage points for second place and just two and a half games behind conference leaders Brooklyn Nets.
While nobody outside the Cavaliers organization could have foreseen this, the proof is in the pudding. With ten of their previous 12 contests won by double-figures, the Cavs legitimize the resurgence and quest for a postseason berth.
The team has been exhibiting impressive chemistry and resolve during this stretch, effectively putting away opposing teams early without allowing for potential late-game collapses as in early this season.
A probability report from stats site Basketball-Reference had predicted them to be a lock for the playoffs and the best odds to finish atop of the Eastern Conference in the postseason. Now being considered as proven postseason contenders, the Cavs will undoubtedly be marked with a target on their backs from hereon.
The Cavs will soldier on with less than 24 hours turnaround when they visit the Atlanta Hawks tomorrow, before finishing the road trip against the Boston Celtics in New England on December 22nd.
