5 potential future landing spots for Cleveland Browns QB Baker Mayfield
2. Cleveland Browns Baker Mayfield trade partner: Houston Texans
This one’s a little out there because something else has to happen for Mayfield to land in Houston. That’s Josh McDaniels being lured out of New England to coach the Texans.
It’s expected Houston will fire their coach and then finally conclude their hand in the completion of Deshaun Watson’s legal issues by dealing the former first-round pick.
If McDaniels gets the job, you can certainly connect the dots.
It was heavily reported that McDaniels and the Patriots were interested in Mayfield during the 2018 draft and that if he had fallen New England’s way, the Pats wold’ve taken him. That’s all speculative, but McDaniel’s fascination with the former Heisman trophy winner was not.
It’d be just Cleveland’s luck to see McDaniels go to Texas, bring Mayfield with him and ride to glory together, considering McDaniels was a finalist for the job that eventually went to Kevin Stefanski.
It’s a long shot, unless McDaniels gets hired, but still interesting to think about.
