5 Cleveland Browns stocks that have plummeted before Bengals finale
2. Cleveland Browns HC Kevin Stefanski
Coach and quarterback usually go hand-in-hand, and right now, neither of these gentlemen look to be on the same page.
Stefanski’s game plan was inexcusable, as he hung his quarterback out to dry nine times. That said, there were times guys were open. It was obvious and I’m watching the ESPN broadcast, not the coaches tape.
That said, Stefanski ignored Chubb, later coming up with an explanation that the running back suffered a rib injury. ESPN’s sideline reporter, Lisa Salters, reported he was fine, as did the local media covering the team, citing the Browns PR department.
Nothing was ever said about it again, until Stefanski was pressed after the game.
Like Mayfield, Stefanski had a lot of things go right in 2020. When adversity punched the Browns in the face, he didn’t answer.
Also, I’m not going to put James Hudson on this list. The rookie was terrible, but he had to go up against T.J. Watt, who is probably going to be named the Defensive Player of the Year. The head coach did nothing to help him. Mayfield made point of it after the game. Trust me, the rest of the locker room took notice as well.
I fear Stefanski is trending the way of Matt Nagy…let’s hope not, although he needs a big rebound year in 2022.
