3 good things from the Browns win against the Bengals
By Chad Porto
D’Ernest Johnson
You have to appreciate D’Ernest Johnson, who heading into the game was the Cleveland Browns’ second highest rusher for the season. He came into the game with 411 yards on the year, and his 123 yards topped him out at 534 yards. He averaged nearly as many hards per carry as Nick Chubb.
This is also the second time the Browns rode Johnson to victory in a game this year, doing so earlier against the Denver Broncos back in week seven. The soon-to-be 26-year-old will certainly be an option for a cash-strapped team if they need a starter. It’s unlikely he gets a huge payday, but he could still get two to three-year offers worth around $10-13 million. That’s not a paltry sum.
Considering he went undrafted and played for the Orlando Sentinals of the AAF during their loan season of operation, it’s not exactly like this was expected. Johnson has proven his capabilities as a potential starter for a team with a need to run the ball, and if a team like Baltimore, Las Vegas, Miami, or even Seattle wants a starter, Johnson could easily be an option for them.
