The last pick in the Cleveland Browns 2021 Draft Class was running back and wide receiver combo player Demetric Felton. The young player out of UCLA was seen by many fans as instant offense and a speedster who could line up in the slot and help the Browns with their pesky problem of being too slow.
We know the song and dance, fans were wrong, he wasn’t the impact player many touted him to be, blah blah blah.
Unlike the rest of the guys on the list so far, Felton actually showed improvement as the season went on. As a runner, he was hopeless, with an average per-carry of just 3.4. That’s frankly quite sad considering the Cleveland Browns’ primary offensive threat is considered to be its running game.
Yet, out of the backfield, he did develop as a slight matchup problem. He wasn’t fast enough to be the over-the-top game-breaker the team needed but as far as a potential replacement for Kareem Hunt goes, he’s a viable candidate.
He’s not an elite player, and not a “playmaker” by any means but if Hunt is unavailable, Felton could make for a decent replacement back. For a sixth-round pick, that’s actually all you can expect from him, so fair value here.
