P  Corey Bojorquez – 2021 PFF N/A

The Cleveland Browns made a boneheaded decision to cut Jamie Gillan. This isn’t an opinion, either. As after he was let go, the Browns’ punting game fell apart. He averaged less than 40 yards per punt in three of five games for Cleveland. A terrible ratio for a punter. Gillan got ran out of town by people who had no idea what they actually had.

Seems to be the narrative recently.

The Browns need a new punter because Dustin Colquitt isn’t it, and Gillan isn’t likely to return.

Cue Corey Bojorquez. He averaged 46.5 yards per punt in 2021, and 50.8 yards per punt in 2020 while with Buffalo. Those are some really impressive numbers. If the Packers were smart, they’d re-sign Bojorquez, as it seems likely that Jordan Love is going to be under center for the Packers next season, and what are the odds they find a third-straight franchise quarterback?

Now some people will think about the playoffs and remember how bad the Packers’ special teams were all year, and they were, but that’s not on Bojorquez. That’s on the other 10 guys on the punt-team, who didn’t block or couldn’t tackle. He did his job.

In fact, he and Mason Crosby were the only two special teamers who did for the Packers. If the Packers move on from Crosby as well, may I suggest a two-for-one special?
