Browns Round 4

Browns Round 4, Pick 114, Bailey Zappe, QB, WKU

I’m not trying to replace Baker Mayfield here, but Andrew Berry has talked about taking a quarterback for developmental purposes, because if done right, the pick becomes an asset.

And with Zappe, there’s certainly intrigue. He played an FCS for four years before transferring to WKU, where he blew up the record book.

Zappe’s 5,967 passing yards broke a record set by Texas Tech QB B.J. Symons in 2003. His 62 TDs broke Joe Burrow’s record of 60 touchdowns during that magical year of 2019 with the Tigers.

Zappe is just 6-1, so he doesn’t have the size that you’d like, but you can’t ignore the stats, especially with players from open “air raid” offenses finding success in the NFL.

There’s a reason he’s a day two or three, prospect, though, but if I’m the Browns, it’d be wise to consider some quarterback at this spot.

Browns Round, 4 Pick 124, Skyy Moore, WMU

He’s undersized at 5-foot-10, but can still be impactful because of his speed. If the Browns go with London in Round 1, like they’re projected to here, then Moore would be a great fit.

Right now, the only receivers expected to return are DPJ, Jarvis Landry and Anthony Schwartz. An to be realistic about it, Landry will need to re-do his deal, and there’s no telling if he’ll be agreeable to that.

Moore caught 94 of 125 balls in his final season, which was good for 1,291 yards and 12 touchdowns.
