NFL Draft Round 1, Picks 14-20

14. Ravens, Jordan Davis, DT, Georgia

I could make a case for the Browns to take him, alas he ends up with Baltimore, where he promises to be a nightmare for the Browns, clogging up holes for the next 7-8 years.

The Ravens have a lot of uncertainly on the line entering the new league year, but adding Davis certainly shores things up.

15. Eagles, Garrett Wilson, WR, OSU

I don’t know if Jalen Hurts gets Philly to the promised land, but if you’re going to run it back with him, give him some weapons. Wilson offers a big-play threat. He’s an OBJ type. Opposing defensive coordinators will have to game plan for him every week.

16.  Eagles, David Ojabo, DE, Michigan

He had 11 sacks and five forced fumbles with Michigan last season. Don’t forget, Philly’s defensive line was a force to be reckoned with when they beat Tom Brady in the Super Bowl.  Bringing him to Philly means lining him up opposite of Josh Sweat.

17.Chargers, Charles Cross, OT, Miss State

With Rashawn Slater on the blind side, LA adds Charles Cross and sticks him on the right side. There’s a long way to go in mock season and Cross could be a top-10 talent by the time draft day rolls around.

18. Saints, Chris Olave, WR, Ohio State

With no day-one quarterback option available here, the Saints go with a wide receiver–and they had some good luck with the last Buckeye they drafted.

19. Eagles, Devin Lloyd, LB, Utah

With their third pick in the first round, the Eagles add to the defense with Lloyd, and off-the ball linebacker who is the reigning Pac-12 player of the year.

He totaled 8.0 sacks last season and should accumulate some tackles for a loss.

20. Pittsburgh, Sam Howell, QB, UNC

The  Steelers may very well be content to move forward with Mason Rudolph and Dwayne Haskins in 2022. That said, they can afford to take Howell here and red-shirt him for the season.

It’ll be interesting to see what becomes of Haskins, because you can’t convince me that he won’t get another chance. He was a first-round talent, but ended up in the disaster that’s known as Washington.
