CB Greedy Williams

Greedy Williams is an interesting name mostly due to his history as a Cleveland Browns player. It hasn’t been the most consistent ride, admittedly. As a rookie, he was pretty bad. The Browns had traded up to get him, and he was a sore spot in the defense for most of the year.

We didn’t think it could get any worse, and then nerve issues in his shoulder effectively ended his follow-up season. The injury was worrisome and had a lot of people, myself included, wondering if the second-year corner would ever return to the field again, and if he did, would he be any better than he was a rookie.

There was a lot of pressure on the Browns’ first selection of the 2019 NFL Draft (taken in the second round), to bounce back in year three, and he did just that. He played all 16 games this past season and had a whopping 10 pass deflections.

His skill set is matched only by his size, and that combination could make Williams super effective in this scheme. The Browns run a lot of three and four cornerback sets, and that means whoever is out there needs to be physical and play against the pass and run, something Williams has shown he can do in year three. His size and skillset, plus this team’s scheme, has Williams on the short-list for potential Pro Bowlers.
