Cleveland Cavaliers continue rolling

The Cleveland Cavaliers came out clicking with a balanced effort, handing out a 105-92 beating to the visiting San Antonio Spurs. Following the return of young floor general Darius Garland, the Cavs were visibly more fluid offensively and marched to their third straight win.

Garland, a first-time All-Star selection, picked up where he left off, leading all scorers with 27 points while adding six assists and five rebounds as he led Cleveland to another decisive victory in his first game back after missing the previous four games.

Playing catch-up early in the game, the Cavaliers went on a huge run between the end of the opening period through halftime. Continuing with the romp, Cleveland eventually erected a massive 23-point advantage by the third quarter.

However, the visiting Spurs wouldn’t go down without a fight, cutting the lead back down to just seven in the final period before Garland and company came right back to arrest the bleeding.

Cleveland’s Tower City duo of Jarrett Allen and rookie Evan Mobley was just as pivotal and were among five Cavaliers players in double-figures, combining for 33 points, 26 boards, and two massive swats in the win.

The Cavs will remain busy through All-Star Weekend

Cleveland’s newest member Caris LeVert, arriving via a trade from the Indiana Pacers, joined Isaac Okoro as the other two Cavaliers to finish in double-figures. Okoro had 14 after going perfect from deep, while LeVert added 11 in his debut donning the wine and gold.

The sophomore guard Okoro was previously selected to participate in the Rising Stars Challenge, alongside the host team’s Rookie of the Year candidate Mobley. And despite not being named to the All-Star Game, Jarrett Allen will also remain in the city throughout the weekend as he joins Garland and Mobley in representing Cleveland in the revamped Skills Challenge.

With three straight wins, the Cleveland Cavaliers improved to 34-21, still in fourth place but just one game behind the Eastern Conference-leading Miami Heat. They will make back-to-back stops in Indiana (Feb. 11) and Philadelphia (Feb. 12) before returning home for the All-Star Weekend.

Next. Jarrett Allen deserved the last All-Star spot. dark
