Cavs Top 3: Caris LeVert impersonates Waldo and goes missing in 3rd game
By Chad Porto
Caris LeVert and the Cleveland Cavaliers fail to mount comeback.
Caris LeVert has already gone missing in just his third game for the Cleveland Cavaliers. His high-volume shooting came back to bite the Cavs in the butt against the Philadelphia 76ers, who behind Joel Embiid’s monster game, handled the Cavs. While Cleveland was able to make some attempts throughout the night to get back into the game, they were unable to actually do so.
The Cavs lost 103-93, to fall to 35-22.
There were no answers for Embiid, but the offense also over-relied on LeVert. He shot just 31% from the floor, hitting only five shots, and finishing with 11 points. Made worse by his poor shooting effort was his poor defensive effort, posting a third-team worst of -21 in the box+/- (BPM).
Isaac Okoro (-25 BPM) and Jarrett Allen (-27 BPM) were the only two to have worse. If that wasn’t bad enough, Rajon Rondo was effectively ruled out before the game. JB Bickerstaff essentially sat Rondo due to a minute’s restrictions, limiting the team in how they ran their game.
Cleveland Cavaliers can’t overcome Joel Embiid
Cavs Top 3
- Evan Mobley
- Darius Garland
- Dean Wade
The first point of the night goes to Evan Mobley. He finished with 11 points, seven rebounds, and BPM of +1. Considering how roasted this team got at times, that’s a good outing for the game against the 76ers.
For the two-pointer of the night, we’re going with Darius Garland. He finished with a team-high 27 points, but he also was awful on defense, finishing with a BPM of -9, and having six turnovers.
That’s why we’re giving the three-pointer to Dean Wade. He only had 10 points and four rebounds but he had a team-high BPM of +14. Considering he was maybe one of a handful of guys who were actually effective on both ends of the court should not be discounted.
