Jarrett Allen is the second Cleveland Cavaliers All-Star for 2022.

Early on in Valentine’s Day, it was announced that James Harden was pulling out of the All-Star Game due to injuries. We just posted a column talking about how Adam Silver needed to wake up and smell the Folgers because Cleveland Cavaliers center Jarrett Allen deserved a spot in the 2022 All-Star Game. I did not expect a resolution so fast.

Announced just minutes before I started typing, Allen has officially been named to the 2022 NBA All-Star Team. He’s been selected as a replacement for Harden, and that means that he’ll be joining his teammate Darius Garland on Team LeBron, which is of course captioned by Cavaliers legend LeBron James.

Allen more than deserves this, as he’s one of the best defensive players in the league, let alone the Eastern Conference. He’s averaging 16.2 points, 11.1 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.6 blocks, and 0.8 steals per game. He’s posting shockingly good advanced stats defensively, with a defensive RAPTOR mark of +3.5.

The funniest thing about all this? He found out on a plane ride while playing Pokemon on his Nintendo Switch. The cat is a different breed. Congrats big man.

Let the LeBronspiracies commence

The “LeBron is going to leave the Lakers and go back to Cleveland” rumors have been put on the furnace this season. The Lakers are going nowhere, and no amount of Anthony Davis or Russell Westbrook is going to change that. James has already said that he would leave the Lakers if it meant playing with his son, Bronny James, who isn’t exactly a Top 60 NBA prospect.

With the Cavs organically getting good and becoming a team to beat in the Eastern Conference in year four of the rebuild, there is a lot of people speculating that James may want to return to the Cavs. I for one have never been a James fan and would rather lose with this corp than win with him.

But I’m not the majority.

A lot of people may want James back in Cleveland and now that he selected Garland to join his team, and will now be getting Garland’s running buddy in Allen, there will be a whole heap of people talking about James coming back to Cleveland.
