This Cleveland Browns Mock Draft starts at receiver and gets interesting
By Chad Porto
The Cleveland Browns need a wide receiver, which is why we’re starting this three-part mock draft with one. The PFF mock draft simulator gifted us Drake London (PFF #12), the big target out of USC. Now London is a great-looking prospect on paper; he’s 6’5, 210 lbs, and there are rumors he runs a sub 4.5 40-yard dash.
That said, he’s had some injury issues while he was at USC and only played eight games as a freshman and eight games as a junior, out of a possible combined 25 possible games. I don’t know, 64% is a great rate of success if you’re hitting in baseball, or shooting in basketball, but if you’re only playing 64% of games in the NFL? That’s not a good thing.
That means he could potentially miss seven games per year, assuming he doesn’t get healthy completely.
I think he can be a huge star, however. Watching him play, and his ability to attack the boundary is unlike anything the Browns have. Frankly, there is no such thing as a sure thing in the draft. Every player has concerns and every player has reasons to take and not take him.
London was the best-rated receiver still on the board when the mock happened. He’s big, he’s fast, and he gives the Browns a type of player they don’t already have.
