Myles Garrett wants to compete in the NBA Dunk Contest and after this year, that’s not a bad idea

Put Myles Garrett in the Dunk Contest next year.

So the dunk contests apparently sucked. Bench player Obi Toppin of the toothless Knicks ended up winning it with a one-handed dunk. No one seemed enthused. Shaquille O’Neal, once the man who couldn’t believe what he was seeing, was looking like an advertisement for a sleep aid. Kareem Abdul Jabar left during the thing. It’s really not surprising that it’s so lackluster, the best dunkers in the NBA don’t participate, and it’s clearly showing. The last good one was Zach LaVine and Aaron Gordon in 2016. If the best in the world don’t want to play, why not start doing a celebrity dunk contest? Myles Garrett is down.

And let’s be honest, he probably had better dunks in the Celebrity Basketball Game than most of the professional NBA players had in the actual dunk contest.

It’s rather sad that the NBA has gotten to this point but be honest with yourself, what was more impressive? Watching Garrett and Italian Olympian Gianmarco Tamberi wreck fools in the celebrity game, or watching professional dunkers be as original as a high school kid in the 2022 edition?

The Dunk Contest needs a dose of Myles Garrett

While Cleveland Browns fans may take pause at the idea of Myles Garrett entering the NBA Dunk Contest, as an NBA fan, you are probably excited about the possibility. Why not? It’s not like the NBA players have given fans their money’s worth. The fact we’re having this conversation and the fact that people are actually on board should tell you how disgruntled fans are with the so-called NBA “superstars”.

If the best of the best won’t get involved, maybe it’s time to pull a Replacements and get a Shane Falco type in there.

Honestly, it probably couldn’t get any more boring than it already is. Here’s hoping 2023 is Garrett vs. Tamberi in the finals.

Next. JR Smith is still blaming everyone but himself for 2018. dark
